Easter Morning
Grieving Magdala, early morning,
Weeping at the empty tomb.
Hard to believe, in faith half-dawning
Of Risen Truth uneasy joy, so soon.
She'd thought Him tender of gardens,
Instilled in unhealed brokenness.
His body nailed in wood, the world to pardon.
Redeemed, forgiven of cruelty loveless.
Sheer soft-spoken words Christ calls her name.
"Why do you weep? You have found your Lord"
And shall not we, joyful in that life to gain,
Everlasting Easter of the heart accords.
He speaks our names and calls us serve
Both Brothers and Sisters from the heart.
Abiding enduring Love without reserve
Brother Jesus from our lives will not depart.
Joyful Magdala, early morning
Renewed by Love's sure Firm call
Faith restored, her love adorning
"I am with you" His fearless promise to all.
